Long Island United will be launched with the most accomplished coaching staff that has ever worked within a youth soccer program. The elite college coaches of Long Island have agreed to provide their time and energy to create an opportunity for Long Islands young players which is beyond compare anywhere in the USA.

Each Long Island United team will be mentored by one of the college coaches. They will oversee the development of the players within the team throughout the year and bring a level of expertise and experience that is completely unique. Please do not expect college Head coaches to be at training every session particularly during their own college season in the fall. When college coaches are unable to be attendance their assistance will look after training sessions just as they do in the college environment.

Michele Canning - Women's Assistant Coach St. John's University
Michele Canning is entering her fourth season as an assistant coach for the Red Storm. As a member of head coach Ian Stone's staff since 2004, Canning has been a part of successful Red Storm squads, including last year's team that won a school record five BIG EAST contests.
Canning came to St. John's after three seasons as an assistant coach at Seton Hall, where she was also a standout on the Pirates' women's soccer team from 1994-98.
Prior to her time coaching at Seton Hall, Canning served for one season as an assistant at Florida Atlantic University. She also served as the Assistant Director of Coaching Services for the Long Island Lady Riders, members of the W-league, where she assisted in coaching, training and directing the Lady Riders' camps.
In 2004, she was a part of the Region I Camp staff, and in 2005 served as an assistant coach for the Eastern New York Olympic Development Under-17 team.

Yeung Chung - Women's Assistant Coach Stony Brook University
Yeung Chung was named assistant women's soccer coach at Stony Brook University in January of 2006. Chung returns back to his alma mater in his second stint as a Seawolves assistant coach.
Chung is no stranger to Stony Brook as he has been very involved in not only the university but in the community as well. From 1999-2001, he was an assistant coach for the Stony Brook men's soccer team. Under his direction, the squad was ranked as high as 23rd in NCAA Division I play. In the community, he currently serves as the Director of Coaches and Players for the Stony Brook Soccer Club, where he is responsible for running and organizing the youth programs and the hiring of coaches.
He is staff member for Olympic Development (Region I), an Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program Evaluator. Chung is certified with a NSCAA National License.
Recognized as a Distinguished Educator by "Who's Who of America's Teachers" in 2004, Chung is currently pursuing a masters degree in elementary education from Dowling College. A 1999 graduate of Stony Brook, he received his undergraduate degree in Social Science Interdisciplinary while playing on the men's soccer team from 1994-'98.

Jessica Clinton - Women's Assistant Coach St. John's University
Jessica Clinton, a 2004 Boston University graduate and four-year starting goalkeeper for the Terriers' women's soccer team, joined St. John's as an assistant coach in February 2007.
Clinton comes to St. John's after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Bergen County Community College in Paramus, N.J., and has been involved as a counselor and trainer at several goalkeeping academies.
A goalkeeper for the America East Champion BU women's soccer team in 2000, 2001 and 2003, Clinton was a three-time all-conference selection. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2003 America East Championship Tournament and was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) regional selection in 2001 and 2003.

Drayson Hounsome - Women's Head Coach CW Post University
Drayson Hounsome is an astute and highly accomplished coach with an extensive background at both the youth and college level. A keen student of the game and author of an top class coaching book on Women's soccer, he has just completed his fifth season as head coach of the C.W. Post women's soccer team after serving for five seasons as an assistant coach at Molloy. Drayson has garnered a 58-31-11 record during that time, which sits 11 wins shy of tying for the most career coaching victories in the history of the Pioneers women's soccer program.
In 2005, Hounsome led his team to their first-ever NYCAC tournament championship, defeating conference rival Adelphi and tenth-ranked New Haven. The Pioneers advanced to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship tournament, marking the first time the Pioneers have reached the national tourney since 1999. C.W. Post finished the regular season with a No. 20 national ranking in the NSCAA/adidas Division II poll.

Richard Nuttall - Head Men's Coach Hofstra University
Richard Nuttall is a larger than life character and coach. A passionate motivator Rich is a former professional soccer player in England and a former member of the Long Island Rough Riders, is entering his 18th season as Hofstra University Head Soccer Coach. Nuttall has guided the Pride to a 159-144-30 record in his 17 seasons and has transformed the program into one of the best in the Northeast.
Last season, Nuttall led Hofstra to its second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association championship and NCAA Division I Tournament berth. The Pride finished the season with a 14-5-3 record, tying for the most wins in school history at the Division I level, while also earning its highest ranking in school history at #13 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll. Richard was voted Regional Coach of the Year honors from the NSCAA in 2005.

Marc Reeves - Associate Men's Head Coach St. John's University
Marc Reeves is the inspirational energy force and dedicated backbone of the hugely successful St. John's program. He is now entering his seventh season and was recently promoted to Associate Head Coach he has been instrumental in the programs success since his arrival, including two Big East titles (2001 & 2003), make the NCAA Tournament each year and hold down a No. 1 ranking for five weeks straight (2002), and make two Final Fours (2001, 2003). As a result of his work, Marc was selected as a National Assistant Coach of the Year by Aflac in 2002.
A talented player in his own right Marc first came to St. John's in 1998, when he played as a midfielder for the Red Storm. He earned a master's degree in secondary education in 1999. He has a USSF A National License and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced National Diploma.

Simon Riddiough - Women's Head Coach Hofstra University
Simon Riddiough has long been the architect and tactical genius behind the success of the Hofstra Women's program. In January, he was named the second Head Coach in the history of the Hofstra Women's Soccer program. Simon has been a member of the Hofstra Women's Soccer staff for 10 years
Simon has been a head coach for the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Girls Under-17 team, which serves as part of the New York Olympic Development Program (ODP), since 2000. In 2005 he helped coach the team to the ODP National Championship. He also previously coached several Long Island Select teams from 1996-1999. In June of 2002, he coached the New Hyde Park Girls Under-19 club to the New York State championship.

Susan Ryan - Women's Head Coach Stony Brook University
No player could ask for a more thoughtful, dedicated and innovative coach than Sue Ryan. Sue's tremendous ability to get the best from her players has been the foundation of her success. During her 22-year career, she has guided the Stony Brook program from the Division III level to NCAA Division I status and established herself as one of the best soccer coaches in America. Her teams always reflect the best of what collegiate competition has to offer and her success is outstanding.
Sue's exploits have not gone unnoticed and her success has not just limited to Stony Brook she was honored for her work with her nationally recognized club team, the Northport Piranha. In 1999, she was chosen as the National Youth Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the United States Youth Soccer Association. Ryan has guided the Piranha to two national titles in the last four seasons, one coming in 1999 and the other in 1997. One of the players on the national championship teams was Christie Welsh, who is now a member of the U.S. Women's National Team.
Sue USSF "A" license and is an NSCAA National Staff Coach. Sue is also the head coach of the Region I girls Olympic Development Program. She also served stints with the U.S. Women's Under-18 National Team as an assistant coach on their trip to Bulgaria and the USASA Amateur Sports Festival.

Ian Stone - Women's Head Coach St. John's University
Ian is a master at presenting complex tactical planning in a format that his players can excel within. His empathetic approach has always paid great dividends. Ian is the winningest coach in St. John's women's soccer history, Head Coach Ian Stone returns for his 12th season at the helm of the Red Storm. In his 12 seasons, Stone's teams have been consistently ranked in the Northeast region on both the SoccerBuzz and the NSCAA regional polls, climbing as high as fourth in the region in 2004. He boasts 101 career wins, a BIG EAST Conference Tournament title and the 2002 ECAC Championship title.
He is currently an age group coach in the Eastern New York South Girls Olympic Development Program, and a Region I ODP staff coach. This past June, he led the Eastern New York South Under-16 girls team to the 2005 US Youth Soccer Region I Championship. Earlier this year in mid-March, the same team won the 2005 US Youth Soccer ODP National Championship in the Under-15 division, having won the Region I title a year ago. The team has now won 14 straight games in ODP play in their respective age group. His team also reached the National Final in 2002, before losing in overtime. Stone has recently coached the two-time Region I Champion HBC Magic and the 2002 Region I semifinalist, Rockville Centre Dynamite.

Brian Suskiewicz - Men's Assistant Head Coach Hofstra University
Brian Suskiewicz is another coach with the golden touch for producing top level performances wherever he goes. Entering his third season as Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Hofstra, after helping the Pride to their first two NCAA Division I Tournament berths in 2004 and 2005 in his first two seasons with the program. He joined the Pride after serving for three years as an assistant coach at Bucknell University, where he also helped the Bison achieve unprecedented success.
Bucknell set school records with 13 wins and 10 shutouts in 2002, and then finished the 2003 season undefeated in Patriot League play (5-0-2) for the first time in school history. The 24 combined wins the Bison had in 2002 and 2003 were the most wins in program history over a two-year period.

Lindsey Vanderspiegel - Women's Assistant Head Coach Hofstra University
Former William & Mary standout midfielder Lindsey Vanderspiegel is entering her first season as an assistant coach on the Hofstra Women's Soccer staff in 2007.
Vanderspiegel was a four-time first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection from 2000-03. She began her career by earning CAA Rookie of the Year and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Freshman All-America honors in 2000. In 2001, she was named the Most Outstanding Player of the CAA Tournament, then earned the 2002 CAA Player of the Year Award, making her the first women's soccer player in CAA history to win the league's Rookie of the Year, Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and Player of the Year Awards. In her final season, she captained the Tribe to the 2003 CAA championship at Hofstra and earned her fourth all-region honor from the NSCAA..
