The LIJSL, Premier League team Manchester City and the Long Island United program are hosting a soccer clinic for talented u11 soccer players in the Long Island area with Deenis Tueart. This is part of a series of events to provide exceptional players with outstanding opportunities to develop their game to the next level. The clinic will begin at 6:00 pm

Dennis Tueart of Manchestr City FC and England, began his career at Sunderland where he was part of an epic FA Cup winning team. He moved to Manchester City where he was a long time fan favorite with his talented ability to ‘menace’ defenses.

Dennis is forever remembered for a brilliant overhead kick at Wembley in the League Cup final against Newcastle United which took the Cup to Manchester City.

Dennis joined then New York Cosmos and played with some of the best players around at that time, including Franz Beckenbauer. Dennis scored 10 goals in 20 games during his first season, and won both the NASL Championship and the Soccer Bowl for Cosmos. The Soccer Bowl was played at the Giants Stadium in New York, and over 74,000 attendees watched Dennis score twice to secure a 3-1 win over Tampa Bay.

Liverpool Football Club of the English Premiere League has announced the formation of an association with the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) and the LIJSL's elite player program Long Island United......

The LIJSL and LI united will be the first U.S. youth soccer league to sign an official affiliation with a top international team. The official announcement was made during the LIJSL’s 25th Annual Convention. Liverpool team captain Steven Gerrard and star player Jamie Carragher recorded a special message for LIJSL and Long Island United to begin this unique relationship.

This association will enable the players of Long Island United to have direct access to the elite Liverpool Academy and have the opportunity to train under the same guidance that has produced world soccer superstars such as Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Robbie Fowler.

“On behalf of the Liverpool Football Club I would like to express how excited we are for the opportunity to develop a relationship with the LIJSL and their elite player program Long Island United,” stated Gerrard. “Both of our organizations have long traditions and a history to be proud of and I am confident that all LIJSL players, whether they be playing for fun or in an elite development program, will prosper in some way.”

As part of the relationship LI United players will have the Liverpool uniform as one of their team uniforms starting in the fall 2007 season courtesy of Liverpool and our sponsors adidas. Adidas is a sponsor of the LIJSL, LI United and Liverpool FC. Long Island United players will also receive coaching tips and soccer development information direct from the Liverpool Academy and Liverpool staff will visit Long Island to help in the training of the players.

"This relationship is yet another tremendous step forwards for the Long Island United program" added LIJSL Technical Director Gary Book. "Since the programs formation we have set out to provide Long Island's elite players with a level of training, support and development that will be the envy of the entire country; this outstanding relationship with Liverpool FC is a phenomenal boost to those goals"
